Who is our Ruler???

Mercury? I don't think so. That's Gemini's cup of tea. Sure, I'm introspective, but I'm not much of a talker and I know many quiet Virgos who don't seem to think at all.

Chiron? Maybe.. Chiron is the planet of wounds and I would like to see more emphasis on Virgo and healing. Ive noticed that quite a few Virgo friends are very drawn to the medical profession, and other types of service to others in pain.

Vulcan? I don't know much about it.. but he's that volcanic planet we could never find. Seems interesting, Im not sure

What do you think?

      Virgo's Planetary Ruler

Virgo has as many planetary candidates as she has godess names. While the planet Mercury is presently her official ruler, she shares it with Gemini, a situation that does not allow either sign to be their true selves. It's like two people living in the same house; they must make compromises in order for them to be able to live peacefully under the same roof. Both Geminis and Virgos must be tiring of this situation, and eventually there will have to be a split up. Every sign wants their own planet(house, apartment, etc.) so they can express their true natures without hindrance. The problem is deciding who will stay(who is the real owner?) and who will move out.

Most astrologers and even non-astrologers feel that Mercury is the true ruler of Gemini and this appears to be so athough we wil never be fully certain untill the split up occurs. Let's say that Mercury does rule Gemeni first and foremost, and that Virgo has been shacking up with him all this time -what is the reason for it? People don't move into someone else's home unless there is nowhere else to go, or unless they cannot afford it. Cosmically speaking, it is very possible that the Virgoan race has lost its true home(Maldek?) and has had to be moved elsewhere(on Mercury).

This, by the way, is actually how planetary rulership works; the dominant race of that planet, or rather, its dominant king or ruler empowers it by becoming its logos. All of the other subservient races or nations represent the remaining planetary influences. So there are two dominant races presently living on/in Mercury -The Gemenians and the Virgoans. When a new home or planet can be found or re-established, the Virgoans will migrate there in their ships and empower or impregnate that planet with their own peculiar collective astrological influence. Then we will have a new astrological planet. It may be that the search or restablishment of such a home planet is well underway(the New Jerusalem?). Are not the biblical elect the "virgins" in Revelation who will be given new bodies and a new Earth(new planet?). This is speculation, but it's certainly possible!

One of the many candidates for a home for Virgoans is Vulcan, said to be situated between Mercury and the Sun. Why do we have a tendency to assign masculine gods to feminine signs? Virgo is a feminine sign and should have a feminine sounding ruler. Vulcania would be more appropriate. There are six masculine planet/signs in astrology and six feminine ones, and there should be six masculine gods and six feminine gods to represent them. Minerva or Medusa would be a more apt name for Pluto for example. This goes to show the extent of patriarchal rule in our society.

Vulcan was presumably sighted in the late 1800's, by Leverrier and others, but it may have been a giant ship passing through, for it has not been sighted since. Then there are those who say that Vulcan is in an etheric(non-materialized) state and can only be seen in ultraviolet light, or is hiding behind the Sun. Still others say Vulcan is somewhere out beyond Pluto. The Theosophists make a big deal about Vulcan and include Earth as one of their twelve planets. They also link Virgo esoterically to the Moon(which supposedly "veils" Vulcan). It is true though that the Moon has some kind of Virgoan influence. In fact, I have observed that the Moon often has more to do with Virgo(or Capricorn) than with Cancer. This is a real mystery for me.

Other popular candidates for Virgo are the asteroids Ceres and Vesta discovered in the late 1800's, Chiron discovered in 1977(not to be confused with Charon -Pluto's moon, which by the way was discovered a year later), and the more recently discovered Quaoar. None of these, however, have so far shown any fully convincing or conclusive link to Virgo. Could it be that the Virgoan influence, just like its peoples, is scattered across our solar system, akin to the Jews? The Jews, however, eventually acquired a homeland, and so will the Virgoans.

Another possibility is the Earth's inner sun, which exercises its influence via the Midheaven in astrology, and which reflects the Persephone/Kore myth. The Earth itself has yet to be recognized as the true ruler of Libra working via the Ascendant or Rising sign. Earth's astrological influence does not come from its core or center but from the interior of its shell wherein is located its spirit or center of gravity. Earth's core or central inner sun is a separate influence altogether, having its own magnetic field. Could this core or sun somehow be connected to the rulership of Virgo?

There is much talk in metaphysical circles of a planet or sun that is in the process of birthing from our solar system sun. This planet or body is expected to be born around 2012 or 2013 AD, the famous Mayan end-time date. According to ex MJ-12 member, Bill Cooper, a huge fleet or armada of reptillian or draconian space ships is supposed to arrive to the inner solar system at this date, with the possible objective of destroying this new-born world, but at the same time, Arcturian and Andromedan ships(the forces of Light) are on their way to protect it. Could this new world be instrumental in bringing the Christ force back to our solar system in full measure, and could it be associated with Virgo's true ruler?

Unfortunately, there are more questions than answers, and it looks like we will have to wait for the answers. I do, however, feel that we are reaching critical mass and that at some point soon(2012?) we will have those answers.

        Great post Jill, thank you.

I disagree with a bit of this though...
"People don't move into someone else's home unless there is nowhere else to go, or unless they cannot afford it. "

As a Virgo who CHOOSES to live with other people and who is surrounded by people who constantly choose to create community together by sharing living space, I find that statement rediculous. Families live together. Lovers, siblings and friends often willingly and consciously choose to live together. Maybe mainstream American culture fetishizes individualism, but in much of the world there is no conceptual problem involved in living with another. I have no problem sharing Mercury with Gemini.

Every sign except the sun and the moon used to share a sign. It went out in a circle sans Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune:

        Saturn-aquarius
        Jupiter-pisces
        Mars-aries
        Venus-taurus
        Mercury-gemini
        Moon-cancer
        Sun- leo
        Mercury-virgo
        Venus- libra
        Mars- scorpio
        Jupiter - sagittarius
        Saturn - capricorn

Some astrologers still look to Saturn for Aquarius, Jupiter to Pisces, and Mars to Scorpio when doing interpretations. I don't use the 2 former, but I definitely see the correlation between Mars and Scorpio, as well as Venus for Libra and Taurus.

Vesta, then Ceres get my vote for the most likely ruler of Virgo, or in the very least, expansion of Virgo, but in the mean-time either Mercury needs a reinterpretation or it's doing a fine job of taking care of both Gemini and Virgo.

All that said, I have Gemini rising and Mars.

But of course its Mercury! Who else gave the Clever Nurse her, often, superior gifts when it comes to quiet communication, reading & writing? But Mercury does express itself in rather different ways in Gemini & Virgo; not so strange if one ponders the extroverted/introverted stereotypes of the signs. If Mercury visited Taurus, the result would probably be a sausage-munching intellectual!
