The dark side of Virgo is supposed to be the, almost unconcious, urge to seek up & and explore seedy environments! Personally I have a strange flaw in my character that sometimes have led me into trouble: a determination to avoid certain, nasty, violent individuals have led me into confrontation with them! If I hadn´t bothered to avoid them Im pretty sure nothing would have happened!
But I haven´t an evil nature, the only way I can be evil is to put on an act, to pretend to be evil; Im rather convinced the same goes for almost all Virgos.

Re: The dark side
Sat, September 8, 2007 - 7:41 PMHi Joachim...actually, it goes for all humans...it is part of law of attraction, if I'm not mistaken here. In your determination to avoid these people, you keep thinking about them, thus attracting you to them or them to you. Your mind is like a magnet. Whatever thoughts are in it, that is what you attract!
Please chime in if I have this wrong.

Sun, September 9, 2007 - 11:24 PMthis is kind of true, but im not sure if it's only a virgo thing. i know a virgo that steals just because she can get away with it. she was caught, of course. she was smart, she don't need the money, but i suppose, she just like the thrill.

Re: The dark side
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 10:19 AMI think Virgos, like every one else, have a dark side to them, and I think it depends for everyone...
Personally, for me, I used to be pretty troublesome when I was younger - Sun/Mercury/Venus in Virgo. I adored mischief and the feeling of doing something I wasn't supposed to. It was definitely an adrenaline rush, and I loved every second of it. I stole money from family members to feed a drug addiction. My public school record is just gruesome. I was suspended for fighting as young as the age of 5 and on upward until about 16, and then I straightened up, though I had no choice. I HAD to straighten up. -

Re: The dark side
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 10:18 AMHmmm, don't know how you managed all that. I think the Earth and Water types are more prone to drug addiction though - purely because Earth enjoys the pure comfort and feeling, and the Water people are emotional, and thus can sometimes turn to drugs to escape.
My Sun and Mercury are in Virgo, Moon in Scorpio (Which enjoys getting something for nothing) - thank god for my Capricorn ascendant (Which I think in some ways, prevented me from turning the wrong corners with it's honest and respectable attitude). I never really got into fights or drug addictions - but I've always liked weed.
As for the 'picking fights', I've found that a lot too - although it just never got physical. I can mainly attribute this I think to my Scorpio Moon ("Scorpio love pushing their opponents right to the edge of their boundaries"). -

Re: The dark side
Thu, September 20, 2007 - 2:28 PMAhhh...for some reason I see weed as a Gemini thing. I've ran into countless Gemini men and women that smoke it...maybe it's just me.
That being said, I have Gemini Moon and Mars. Though I'm no longer into the drug addiction deal (thankfully) I do smoke cloves. It's the only thing I will smoke...indeed it is my comfort. It's all earthy, and well...I shouldn't have to explain myself in that aspect. =)
Oh, I used to turn wrong corners right and left...Aquarius tends to do that to a person. Aquarius rising, and just a strongly placed Uranus. I did NOT know the concept of "behave" or "no"...that's still questionable at times.
Yes...the fight part...strongly placed Mercury/Moon/Mars/Venus bad aspects...like, Mercury square Mars. That one just SCREAMS verbal fights. Moon conjunct Mars doesn't help. I have a terrible temper, but it subsides quickly.

Re: The dark side
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 9:45 PM"an unconscious urge to seek up & explore seedy environments" , huh? Well, you got me on that. Damn. I sure do love my garden and leisurely sunny weekend naps followed up by bug watching laying on the ground. Fortunately, as to those nasty potentially violent wasps, they have other things to worry about than me and the strange beetles and spiders out on their daily errands to and fro are so much more riveting than bothersome stingy things.
Weeds think I'm evil. I go at them with deadly fervor. -

Re: The dark side
Thu, September 20, 2007 - 1:02 PMMabe not necessarily want to be a part of it,but I've attracted seedy people to me all my life, and their lives at times were certainly grim and ugly.Ethier past family abuse, violent tempers, early deaths of a loved one, drugs, alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, rape.I've had old friends pour secerts out to me that I wish I never heard,it taints you,you simply can't look at that person the same again.Again though I've not consciously sought it,it found me.For me I suppose what I had to learn from it is compassion and understanding, trying not to automatically judge and avoid, but also not allow myself to be sucked into it,contaminated by it.I'll read about it,watch shows about it,some part of me is certainly curious as to why people do the things they do,but I don't want to identify with it or allow it to corrupt me. -

Re: The dark side
Thu, September 20, 2007 - 3:29 PMMy theory on this, as mentioned before somewhere, is that Virgos PURE NATURE attracts lots of rotten people who want to corrupt & destroy it! BUT there is something, in many Virgos characters, THAT ANSWER THE CALL, a part that is fascinated by thrash and sleaze! Maybe it has something to do with trying to find things that are not fake but genuine, and that "originality" is often not very polite and well-dressed. A quest for truths? Many Virgos don´t like to hear more about this! They are the good librarians, not biker hang-arounds! Yes they are, oh yes they are! But, often, with secret wishes to go on a stroll down sleazy lane. -
-
Re: The dark side
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 2:49 PMOkay, I'll bite... I do not have a PURE NATURE just because I'm a Virgo sun sign. That's total stereotypical crap. Pure nature to me is innocence, naivety, raw unfiltered nature. A predator killing prey is pure nature - not evil - just natural. I do have a meter for wrong - it runs to decency to other others, including animals and the earth - rather than arbitrary laws. If I see someone abusing another person or an animal I most definitely step in. If I see someone commiting an illegal act that I don't deem abusive or harmful, such one adult paying for sex with another adult, to me that's their business, not the state's no matter what the law says.
Evil is a binary Judeo-Christain concept. I usually don't apply it. The cases where I find it fits is for people and regimes like Pol Pot's in Cambodia, Stalin's gulags, eastern European pogroms, the Nazi concentration camps, and other ethnic cleansing in Rawanda, Croatia, etc. Otherwise, it's just all part of the drudgery of human experience.
It is true that archaetypally the path of Virgo is to seek purity - specifically purity of body and mind to act as a conduit for spirit. Also in the form of dedication to a cause. Virgo is an earth sign. No matter what the stereotypes, that's a statement on being a sensual sign. Being mutable, Virgo is a seeker, ever changing and exploring, which can go in the direction of excessive anything of the senses: sex, drugs, food, work, etc., perhaps what you interprete as the dark side. It can also go to the other extreme of fanatical diets, strict sexual abstinence, strict sobriety, and intense exercise routines.
My own personal experience is that I've definitely seen the painful side of other people's and my own experiences, but it's just a part of life. My expectation is for people to learn and grow. Not much phases me and though I do have my own judgements about things, I offer nuetrality, which makes it easy for people to talk about nearly anything with me. I can offer love, support, a fresh perspective to see and take steps towards balance and joy, or point someone in the direction they say they want to go. I do not suffer fools, drama queens, or energy vampires gladly even though I know I can be very helpful and nurturing. I think what you called the "dark side" is really only one aspect of the "human side" of things. Virgos don't end up healing and serving the world by hiding in their high white tower, but by looking around them with perceptive eyes and seeing what is really going on, and going to investigate so they know better how and where to be of service. I don't see some fetishistic attraction to "dark" things, I see a practical, grounded acceptance of the fact that the human experience is not all butterflies and fluffy bunnies.
I do not have a secret wish to stroll down sleaze lane. Let some other sign with a fetish for good and evil binaries label it such. Someone else's sleaze street is my sex worker outreach or needle exchange booth street. Someone else's sleaze street was Mother Theresa's place to reach out and take care of the extreme poor. -

Re: The dark side
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 4:39 PMBut zodiac books are...stereotype-catalogues! Sun-signs are, in most cases, true stereotypes. Pure, for many Virgos, is CLEAN, UNTAINTED. Not naive or childlike. Virgos often can feel that his inner untainted soul is in danger with certain people, he knows that he´ll change for the worse, sooner or later, if he does not protect himself by walking away. Virgo often has a need for TRUTHS, even uncomfortable, ugly truths. Why do Virgo often like fire signs? Well, because they, many times, appear to have what is missing(?) in the neat librarians life: action, danger & reckless behaviour. Proof that Scorpy´s heir is not just the quiet tea-drinker many, almost desperately, tries to sell in their descriptions of the maiden! -
-
Re: The dark side
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 7:58 PMRidiculous. Sun signs themselves, are in their own way, false stereotypes.
Yes, I'm equipped with this supposed "self-preservation" that we're so famous for, however, my Gemini Moon and Mars leads me towards the child-like curiosity that only a Gemini moon can possess. My Aquarius ascendant is no pure angel sitting upon a rock by a river, and I feel no inner saint that must put down every idea that I run across that I deem "unworthy" or "dirty". I've gotten into plenty of trouble in my life, and it was through no attempts of finding truth through the "dangerous" signs, nor was it participating in behavior with fire signs or Scorpios to fulfill that "missing" part. Ugly truths exist. I'm not afraid of them. I have been a part of them. I'm a realist, no idealist that dreams of a bad boy sweeping me off of my feet.
If you're suggesting that my two year relationship with an Aries has been simply because of I'm the angel and they're the devil, you're sorely mistaken. I was standing on ledges boldly long before they ever appeared, and I will continue to do so. Other astrological aspects can explain this - perhaps, my Aries father? My mother's Aries moon, or my brother's Aquarius sun, Scorpio moon, and Sagittarius rising? What about my own Moon conjunct Mars? Venus square Mars? Mars square Mercury? Pluto square Aquarius ascendant? I challenge, I am challenged, because I am me, in my entirety. No single sun sign can determine my inner being and who I bend to, who I decide not to stay around with, and what I am, internally. Everybody is an individual, and no supposed "true" belief about the inner being of ALL Virgos can define how they, themselves, feel about life and their own internal mechanisms.
The stereotypes of sun signs are usually wrong, for most cases. You'll occasionally run into an extreme Virgo who maintains that point of view, but I'm confident when I say that a majority of us are not the angels the rest see us as, nor do we try to be. We're just as wicked as the rest of the world.
If a librarian is the one swinging their legs off the side of a building, smoking a cigarette, and questioning a friend's beliefs (all at the same time) - the same one that's speeding along a road with music blasting out their windows, then yes, yes, I am a quiet librarian.
NOT.

Re: The dark side
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 1:48 AMJoakim, please tell me that you have a deeper knowledge of astrology than pop-astrology sun sign books. Not that only having knowledge based on sun sign books is bad, it just gives you a very shallow base from which to be making assertations. It's like standing in a tide pool facing the land and exclaiming that you've found the ocean when the real thing is behind you and you've yet to turn around.
Many Virgos are attracted to sun signs because they have other planets in other signs and houses. The first thing that comes to mind is that Venus for most Virgos is in Leo, Virgo, or Libra. Firey Venus in Leo types are likely to get along naturally with other firey types and airy Libra Venus types feed off fire too. They don't need to find an exciting tea-time friend, they already are exciting on their own. For a full explanation of the limited number of signs Venus can be in for a sun sign Virgo go here:
visforvirgo.tribe.net/thread/...722b0b1e
The second thing that comes to mind is that, just based on sun sign, there are 12 different houses that the sun can be in, all giving a different focus to the sun's energy. Next there is the chart ruler and it's depositor and they're relationship to the sun.
Oh, and Mercury is the depositor of sun in Virgo, so one needs to look at the sign and house placement of Mercury to determine what drives our sun-based actions. Not to mention all those fun aspects to create easy flows as well as difficulties.
Let's also not don't forget decanates of Virgo: Mercury sub-ruled Virgo is going to be much more curious, disregarding of rules, and willing to explore and test; Mercury was the only god who could come and go from Hades as he pleased. Saturn sub-ruled Virgo is likely to be a lot more interested in what they'll get out of the potential actions they take or experiences they pursue, to take a longer/larger view of everything in their life, to go to more extremes of deprivation or excess depending on if they are in a poverty or abundance mindset; Saturn is the god of work and structure, but also the Saturnalia, which happens in the part of winter when one knows how well they are going to fare for the rest of the winter, was named after him. Venus sub-ruled Virgo is going to be more interested in sensual pleasures, exploring their senses (sex, food/cooking/nutrition, healing arts, music, visual art, theatre, gardening, nature, drugs) and whether or not they personally value a person, thing, action, or experience.
If any Virgos would like to read their Sabian symbol based on the one of 30 possible degrees of Virgo that the sun can be in, well, that can be found here: www.sequations.com/
Ah, I could go on and on.
PS: Turn around. -

Re: The dark side
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 8:07 AMWell I wonder exactly WHERE knowledge that has not been picked up from books comes from? Im very sorry to say that no angels have turned up with a basket filled with divine knowledge; what I have learned have come from more traditional sources. But, lucky for me, others have found deep wells of learning, so much more saturated with True Knowledge compared with my shallow observations! It´s like being an ant & then meeting high flying, cerebral birds that have seen the big picture from above! If one parts humanity in 12 pieces and says that each piece of that cake is so and so...HOW CAN THAT BE ANYTHING BUT STEROTYPES??? And what is wrong with zodiac stereotypes, if they ARE CORRECT? Then that information is useful, in most cases. As a Virgo I am similar to other Virgos, I am not one of a kind. That´s a good thing. But zodiak-signs are no map one can use to navigate with in life! They belong in pop-astrology pocket books, to be consumed by readers that does not take everything they read seriously. What they bought is entertainment, not some technical manual for the construction of mankind! -

Re: The dark side
Wed, September 26, 2007 - 10:32 AMThere are a lot of Virgos around born with Pluto conjunct the Sun. This would add a huge Scorpionic/dark bent to the personality. Also, Virgo energy is sextile Scorpio energy and opposite Pisces, influences in these signs can pull a Virgo into realms of taboo, darkness, victimization and loss.
