I once suggested that Virgo & witchcraft had stronger ties than any other sun-sign, and did I get my bread roasted? Yes I did, and I was honoured with the title "moron" in the process, thank you for that accolade. But now more proof of the witchy kind of Virgo has arrived, and maybe, just maybe I will be dubbed "dork" this time? Ok: Virgos tarot card is the Hermit, which many interpret as a picture which describes the brainy side of the maiden, seeking wisdom in solitude & all that stuff. BUT: an older interpretation of that card is that what it really shows is a MASTER WITCH at work! What darkness I have unfolded!

Thu, April 3, 2008 - 2:04 PMThat's cool. My card happens to be the Hermit as well. It definitely fits with my personality.

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 2:15 PMI disagree with that, Scorpio and Gemini have more to do with witchcraft than Virgo (especially Scorpio), though, Virgos do have interests in the occult as do Sagittarius, Pisces, Aquarius and Cancer. Valens writes that Scorpio is "privy to murders or sorcery or malicious doings" Gemini and Virgo are "initiates in occult matters".

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 5:58 PMDarn, I was kind of voting for Virgo witch.
Can we at least agree that Virgo can take the crown for "Cosmic Slut" ?
If you don't like the sound of that, how about "Whore to the Stars"?
I definitely dig it. I gots goddess in mah bloods, I can *feel* it. -

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 7:46 AMI dunno. I associate Virgos with healers, herbalism, and gardeners/nurturers.
It's really not too far fetched to associate them with witchcraft is it? It's all the same thing with ritual... sounds like a Virgo thing to me. -

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Sat, April 5, 2008 - 12:02 PMMy sophomore year of High School, I went steady for about 2 weeks, bought the initial ring and everything. Gee, those were the days. A nice Catholic Girl, who was born under the Hysterical Sign of 'Cheerleader'. Awesome, especially for a semi-Baptist raised country boy, seems my religious indoctraination was curtailed after I was observed preaching 'Hell&Brimstone', at the age of 4 in the driveway. "Get that boy a Cat or something to play with!"
Her name was Sweetface.
Cheerleader Laurie broke up with me during the intermission of a double feature movie date,
I still wonder why she did it in the middle and not the end (not really, there was no kissing
during the showing of the second feature, "The War Lord", which I confused as being called "Warlock", a western that had nothing to do with witchcraft.) -

I'm actually being quite serious about the concept of "cosmic slut." A few thousand years ago the word "virgin" did not mean what it means today - it meant an unmarried woman who refused to be possessed by any man. You could say that "virgin" used to almost mean the exact opposite of what it refers to in today's society.
There are strong links between "Sacred Prostitutes" of the day [goddesses practiced in the art of sacred sex / tantra as a means of merging consciousness with the highest metaphysical realms] and the values encompassed by Virgo. Prostitution was seen as a service to men, and humanity at large. -

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Sun, April 6, 2008 - 5:05 PMunmarried woman and man who refused to be possessed by any woman and man. a service to humanity at large, indeed, that is serious,
now I don't see how this could exclude mutual sharing, then and especially now.

Fri, April 11, 2008 - 5:06 PMDesiree - I'm digging the hypothesis.
I think it's actually rather accurate. Discriminating sluts perhaps ;-P

Re: More Virgo hex proof!
Fri, April 11, 2008 - 5:04 PMIt's not the association that bugs me, it's the claim (as proof) that no other sign is just as drawn.
Sun signs aren't all that make up a person and I think it's silly to suggest that one sign is *the* sign....especially when it comes to spirituality.
